Disney Awards Explorations V Children’s Museum
Explorations V Children’s Museum has received a grant in the amount of $20,000 from Walt Disney World Resort as part of this year’s DisneyHelping Kids Shine initiative.
Georgann Carlton, Explorations V Children’s Museum’s CEO, accepted the grant during an event at the Orlando Repertory Theatre that included Mickey Mouse and dozens of VoluntEARS. The dollars will impact the Museum’s After School with the Arts & Sciences, a program designed to immerse underserved children in the arts and sciences while developing and enhancing academics, character, compassion and life skills.
In addition to Explorations V Children’s Museum, another 58 organizations from Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Polk counties received grants totaling $1.5 million which represents a record for the Disney Helping Kids Shine program.

Walt Disney World’s philanthropic focus is on helping families meet basic needs, youth development and education. Disney Helping Kids Shine grants support organizations inCentral Florida that inspire creativity and innovation, encourage a sense of compassion for others and promote the health and well being of families.

Explorations V Children’s Museum, a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is located in downtownLakeland in the historic S.H. Kress Building. Three floors of mind stretching, kid-powered exhibits and programs provide a hands-on, fun-filled adventure in learning for children and their families. Hours are Monday – Saturday, 9am to 5:30pm. Admission is $7 per person. Senior citizens 65+ are $3.50. Teachers/military with ID are also $3.50. Children under two are free. Members of Explorations V Children’s Museum are also free. Annual Family Memberships can be purchased for $70.
